This is it folks! Due to a last minute drop of Kelli Gottardo due to the recent passing of his corner man last night, Brandon Walker has stepped up to fight Joe Maiani in a fight we've all been waiting to see!
I'm seriously excited about this one. This fight has been talked about for a year but has yet to happen due to scheduling, weight and other issues. Now, it's happening on October 29th at the Hope 4 Change Armory on 4100 Reading Rd. Cincinnati, OH 45229 at 7pm.
Kelli Gottardo who was originally scheduled to fight Joe found out this morning that his long time cornerman and coach was murdered late last night which was confirmed by the Ohio Athletic Commission. We are very sad to hear of such a tragic incident and our prayers truly go out to his family. Due to this tragic situation, Kelli has had to pull out of the fight without recourse and we hope he is well.
Brandon Walker is somebody who has been flying under the radar for years. He has fought for the MMA Big Show several times over the past several years including Belterra Casino and others, however, until recently he has taken a passive approach to the sport and had been focusing on other elements of his life. Now, he trains daily as a member of the Team BSG Fight Team and was recently victorious over the very experienced Ryan McIntosh at the Cincy Masonic Center in what was a major stand up war many thought Walker wouldn't be able to withstand. Withstand he did as he wont the fight by submission towards the end of the 1st round and everyone went crazy.
Joe Maiani is a true fighter. His amateur record of 17-2 with multiple ammy titles from various promotions shows he's a gamer with skills, though so far in his pro career hes had some difficulties adjusting. A decorated wrestler with work ethic unrivaled by most anyone I've known, Maiani takes his fight career very seriously and is fueled by the support of his loyal following which keep him pushing forward.
"I just never want to let me friends and family down so I train every day thinking about them and how I can give them the best show for their money." explains Maiani.
Walker knows Maiani has a big fan base and he's looking to give the crowd a reason to change their focus to him.
"I will beat Maiani." Walker told JL Barger with supreme confidence.
One thing is for sure, the winner of this fight is going to earn every single bit of it and will have earned some serious bragging rights between them because both fighters seem 100% certain the outcome will be in their favor.
